wiener wednesday

Apparently the great Gaines-burger shortage of yore didn't make it to the history books. This crisis is news to me. Thankfully the legions of dachshunds were able to carry on.

I've seen a similar treatment of the windy dachshund before. Love it nonetheless!

wiener time

Natalie Lines has some nice animal illustrations. Of course this dachshund one rises to the top. I wonder how Biggie and Boo would do with some specs. Not well I imagine, but they'd be so cute for the 10 seconds they tolerated the new look.

Now it's time to cool off. I'm sorry, but this is pretty adorable. I'm pretending that my dachshund adoration isn't always transparent.

Care to have your own wiener? Well you can buy this vintage pattern from Etsy seller cakescakescakes and make one. FYI, there's also a donkey, kangaroo, panda, duck, and lamb to choose from. I can't knit, so... I'm out.

Ah my friend Seana knows me so well. I found this in my inbox yesterday and of course squealed with laughter and joy. I think I scared my dogs.

During the Next Wave Festival in Melbourne artist Bennett Miller created a version of the UN using dachshunds. To read more about it hop over to Vice.

You know I can't resist a good wiener related post. This is from the awesome Flickr group Signs in Motion.

I think if I ever get another dachshund I would like a long-haired one. I will need a bigger lap before moving forward with that though.

in and out

I think this ad might be on to something. I'm going to have to try it out... the double bowl system, not the laxatives.

This image is part of a campaign which I found over on I Believe in Advertising. Some comments on this post made me laugh because they can't laugh about it. Yeah it's silly, but come on... just a chuckle at least?

need to want less: companionship pt. 2

I am really excited to be able to offer one of my Need/Want designs. As much as I don't feel comfortable giving myself a pat on the back, I really can't deny that it makes me happy if something I make makes someone else happy (so many "makes" and "happy" in there). So even though I feel like I make silly things I guess at least a couple people like them.

If you happen to be one of those people you can purchase it at Wall Blank. It comes in two sizes (at a very reasonable price). You will please Biggie and Boo (my dachshunds, little friends, cuddle bugs, and the source of much hilarity) and me too, allowing me to continue to pay bills and all that fun stuff. I am so bad at self-promotion, but apparently have no problem with guilt trips. And on that note, if you perchance missed your opportunity to buy my previous Wall Blank print (the horse in the field... for some reason I do not believe in photo titles yet my other junk feels naked without one), you can buy it again. You can get it here. And now I end my very parenthesis laden post.

Oh and thank you so much if you do buy something! And if you don't, I still love you.

need to want less: companionship

This is of course a no-brainer... my dachshunds are WAY better than a gross 'ole wiener, but dang if a hot dog doesn't sound really good sometimes, regardless of the questionable ingredients.

more wiener time

Yes, I know I have a problem. I also know that all of this dachshund stuff appeals to almost no-one that is reading this right now. So thanks for allowing me to get this out of my system. Again.

wiener time

LittleWidely known fact... I love dachshunds. There are two snoring at my feet right now in fact, which is a nice reminder that life is good. Anyway, I have managed to bookmark a few dachshund themed finds in the last week and rather than slowly torture every one with several posts, I'm going to purge my latest discoveries in one shot.

The above image is from a 1945 Life magazine I found in Llano this weekend. If you can believe it this fella was on the cover. His name is/was Rudy (the article points out that he is Mexican) and the story covered his friendship with a cat named Trudy (who is Panamanian). Hard hitting I know. The best part of the article was this line... "Trudy is too lithe and swift for Rudy but she tolerantly allows him, with his preposterous legs and exhaustible energy, to think he is her equal." Ok, maybe it's not GREAT, but I like that dachshund legs are declared preposterous, because it's true.

This design is by the folks at Little Friends of Printmaking.

This dachshund turned 21 recently and is officially the oldest dog in the world.

And there you have it.
