in memoriam

I'm taking a quick break from moving/working to say goodbye (dramatically) to my favorite little camera. My AE-1 is now in the clutches of some dumb ole thief that probably won't have a whole lot of luck selling the ratty old thing. It took good pictures but I doubt in the age of snazzy digital cameras it will be too enticing to anyone else. This is the last developed image I took (there was an unfinished roll in it... grrrr). Thanks for the memories buddy.

pretty pretty polaroid

Look at this cool new Polaroid camera. That's right... NEW. The PIC-1000 doesn't have a price tag yet, and something tells me I'll need to drool over it from afar... but oh I would love to get my mitts on one. I think I'm addicted to aesthetics, or form over function. Or how about pretty things.

the camera for... you

When I saw a commercial for this new Samsung compact digital camera all I could think was, this is the solution for all your Myspace/Facebook profile self-portraits... and that's about it, which is not a compliment or an endorsement. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a wonderful and adequate camera, and I suppose it's hard to knock "innovation" (although I guess I am in putting that in quotes) but this seems like a big bell/whistle for a very trivial need. Am I overlooking an important void it has filled?

Fuji has just come out with a digital camera that shoots in 3D, which they're called "real feel". I'm definitely intrigued. The sticker price is a bit out of my league, so I will have to remain curious. I'm also not sure it would be worth it once I get past the gimmick. Interesting breakthrough for the mainstream market none-the-less.

Four Corner Store is a great little site that I discovered through The Plastic Lens (a fun place to visit also). Both sites share a love for toy cameras with FCS offering some novelty and also more well known options at reasonable prices.
